Growing up as an 80's teen, I remember this TV series as very cutting edge of it's time. The storylines that David Kelly wrote were excellent. No other TV series was talking about the subjects that he talked about. Aids, religion, gay rights, morality, I am sure the network would be concerned every week when the released a new story. And the characters and actors that play them were also hero's any many eyes. I remember having a crush on Kenny the Italian deputy and also admiring the daughter played by my favorite actress Holly Marie Combs. Please get this DVD, it will remeind you of days gone by and subjects that the US may have placed on the back burner because of other more timely subjects. The only thing missing from this DVD is more special features from the actors and actresses that starred in these amazing roles. BUt hopefully more features will come with each season released.

I vaguely remember seeing one epdisode of this on television in 1993.
For the last few years I've survived by watching mainly DVD's and not live televison as the medium has got so watered-down, short attention-spanned and predictable. So I took a risk and bought this. It as NO RISK...
Within minutes the skillfull mix of strong scripts, unique story-lines, drama and humour, played out by a superb cast had me HOOKED. We've now got through 11 episodes, and no matter what happens next I feel happy to give it 5 stars.
If you liked '6 Feet Under', you'll LOVE this 'pre-decessor'; it's softer, but very real in tackling gay issues, menopause, puberty, transvestism... nothing is sacred!
Watch out for the episode where Max tackles a midget riding an elephant into town !
The ensemble are all good but Kathy Baker, Tom Skerritt, Lauren Holly, and Holly Marie Combs lead the way.

This is another wonderful series by Robert E Kelley. Although it is an older series I have enjoyed viewing it again after many years.
If you have enjoyed Boston Legal, Chicago Hope and The Practice then you will certainly enjoy this 'quirky' series. I am so pleased it was released in Region2 format so it could be played in Australia (unlike The Practice'). I am eagerly awaiting the release of Series 2!
