Essential acid blues 20 Nov 2011

This little gem is one of this year's pleasant surprises for me, it's a corker. Mr C played with the very late era Pink Fairies which is a good sign in itself and I bought it as part of my quest to hear everything closely related to the best, real rock n roll band ever. It burns from beginning to end, and is a general blast of fresh air, managing to be very original in it's sound and content. Plus Russ and Sandy from the Fairies join him on Runnin' Outa Road, worth the price of admission alone. Its still frequently on my CD Player after several months, along with 'brother' PF guitarist's Larry Wallis solo masterpiece, Death in the Guitar Afternoon. You've got to feel sorry for the kids of today, the stuff they call rock n roll nowadays is just a mass-produced joke. Up the Pinks!
Andy Colquhoun - 'Pick-Up The Phone America' (Captain Trip) 1 Mar 2007
By Mike Reed - Published on Amazon.com
First ever solo effort by guitarist, sometimes bassist Andy Colquhoun. The player has been in the Pink Fairies before and has been a back-up musician for Mick Farren. 'Pick-Up' is a decent UK psych piece of work. Nothing REAL special here, but okay. Best cuts are "Lennon Song" (originally appeared on the Deviant's live 'Barbarian Princes' CD), "Alienza" (with Mick Farren on vocals) and the all-out rocker, the sort of Stooges-like "Runnin' Outa Road". Other personnel on this import disc includes Philthy Animal Taylor (on four tracks) and fellow Fairies members Russell Hunter and Duncan Anderson.
