i bought this cd on amazon some 6 or so months ago and re-listened to this cd again twice this week. Martin Tirimo here on IMP from the 1990's (and recently re-released on the regis label in 2013)offers the complete set of Debussy's Preludes in perceptive, sensitively realised playing. sound quality is fine , natural if a little quiet in cd transfer. booklet notes are a little lacking also but a complete set of these marvellous exploratory and often other worldly piano works at super budget price, is a bargain. i seem to recall the Penguin Guide also rating Tirimo's set here very highly. Debussy's Preludes are of course hugely evocative, senistive and otherworldly - a revelation to anyone used to the often bombastic late romantic school.

comparison with Michelangeli + Dino Caino is favourable . If Tirimo sometimes lacks the ultimate sharp ounce of clarity and articulation ,but his overall sense of atmosphere and insights win the day, and for me - is preferable to Zimerman's cold ,over analytical playing on DG. Tirimo here yes is recommended.
