This is one (probably the best) of the handful of standard texts on the subject. The text is profusely illustrated with black and white photographs which are very helpful. The author's clear, lucid style helps to dispel any 'mystique'. The explanation of the mathematics of the piano scale is superb. There are some omissions: Fitting new damper springs in the correct manner is not shown, for example. The book is naturally geared towards American pianos, but this is not a serious drawback. A must, for anyone studying the subject.

This is a bible for becomming piano technicians! Its filled with step-by-step instructions, pictures tips and tricks. This book is for everyone and it brings up topics from tuning to action regulation to soundboardrepairing and rebuilding. If you are serious about learning about how your piano is built, if you are just interested or if you already are a pianotechnician - this book is for you, although you wont become a pianotechnician/pianotuner just by reading a book.

An excellent authoritative source on repairing pianos - from simple tuning and cleaning to complete ground-up restoration. Written in clear, easy to read prose with hundreds of illustrations and diagrams. Has enough detailed theory to help the reader readily understand the reasons behind the repairs.
