Product Description

Product Description

Ji Liu's debut album, Piano Reflections, includes works by composers across the classical spectrum from Beethoven, Chopin and Debussy to Liszt, Schubert and Tchaikovsky by way of Chinese composer Lu Wencheng - Brand new recordings of ten of the most beautiful piano classics of all time.

About the Artist

Born in Shanghai, Ji Liu started playing the piano at the age of 3. Whilst still only 13, he won an international competition, which carried the enviable prize of a recital in New York's renowned Carnegie Hall. That concert proved to be a major turning point in Ji's career. He subsequently left China and relocated on his own to Europe to devote himself entirely to music, first studying in Spain, then Germany until in 2007 he won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music and moved to London, which he now considers home. Ji Liu has continued to win awards, has played on some of the world's most famous stages and has appeared at many international festivals.

Lovely collection from a young rising star.

Lots of different music to suit everyone - all played with flair and talent. It is also very relaxing to listen to! The sound quality is great throughout the CD and his interpretations really are his own - he isn't trying to be anyone but himself in the way he plays some of these well known pieces.

Would definitely recommend.

Technically, much as one has come to take for granted from these brilliant young Chinese
musicians; but Ji Liu delivers a caring performance, not an overtly dazzling one. The first
movement of the 'Moonlight' sonata is most pleasingly sensitive, without being in the least
bit 'sentimental'. I look forward to hearing more of his performances. Comparisons are
odious - and he is clearly of a different temperament and character from Lang Lang; but
I sense his performances alone will soon win him similar audience acclaim and adulation.

What a find this young pianist is - such unusual alacrity in someone so relatively young,

I'll be looking out for more !
