For the uninitiated, the idea of a 5CD roundup from Tori Amos might seem strange; despite her rabidly devoted fanbase, her public success has been limited to a couple of hit singles, including a dance remix. However, the quality and breadth of Amos' back catalogue ensures that a release such as this will attract both hardcore devotees and the curious, and satisfy all comers. From the beautiful, elaborate packaging to the contents of the discs, there is little to fault here. The entire first disc is given over to 1992's Little Earthquakes, with the addition of many alternate mixes and B-sides (including the utterly charming "Flying Dutchman") and from there on in, the discs are crammed with career highs, and liberally sprinkled with outtakes (ranging from the wonderful "Take Me With You" to insightful demo versions), culminating in a disc of her best B-sides. Whilst the debate about what was left off means there will always be room for improvement (curiously, Amos' sundry cover versions are totally absent when a full disc of covers would have added appeal), this is still a perfect summary of Amos' career so far and proof that she still has plenty to offer.-–Thom Allott
