Product Description

Aged only twenty-eight, Darren Aronofsky scooped the Best Director Prize at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival with this extraordinary and fiercely original debut feature - a film that astonishes with the boldness of its ideas, and gatecrashes the senses in its execution.

Pi charts the efforts of mathematical genius Max Cohen to identify certain numerical patterns which, he believes, will explain the workings of the universe. He is pursued by an aggressive Wall Street firm set on financial domination, as well as a Kabblah sect convinced that Max holds the key to the secrets behind their ancient holy texts. Max races to unlock the mathematical code, hoping to defy the madness that looms before him.

This volume also contains Aronofsky's production diary, 'January 31 1996 - January 14 1998: The Guerilla Diaries', which recounts the trials and tribulations he encountered trying to make a feature film for $60,000.

With its ferocious soundtrack and monochromatic black-and-white photography, Pi is already a cult classic.

"Pi", is a book about how desperate a person can get in wanting to get what he wants. The main character plays a role of searching for mathematical patterns in the universe. However the author is very clever in hiding the fact that he himself is trying to portray a person who is searching for the true meaning of life and existance. An absolute pathetic genre yet told in a very powerful way. Searching for things in and outside of life was the worst scenario of all, since the answers lie there in front of him. Yet another sly yet manipulative ploy used by the Free Masons to indoctrinate an entire populous to their way of thinkng. Read this book and if you have any faith spiritually, you will have doubts over as i know many who have, including myself! A very powerful yet uninspiring book. Not recommended for those with very little intelect or understanding of life!

Two Words: GREAT BOOK 13 Dec 1999
By Drew - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Not only does this book have the screenplay for the movie, but it also has the journal entries form the director to show you what he had to go through to make this a perfect film. Very interestingly written, you can make visuals in your head just by the details the writer/director goes into. I would recommend this book to any one with an open mind. And when your done reading this book go out to the video store and see the movie for your self. Remember: Keep an open mind!

The Joy of Filming: Guerilla Style! 21 Feb 2000
By khris - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Go see the FILM FIRST before you read this...it's a guide to fellow screenwriters as well as an enjoyable journal of guerilla style filmmaking. I just wished it would cover the dates and stories of what happened AFTER the sundance awards. It's covers alot of personal tribulations but not enough on the financial side of making an independent film. A cute little smooth cover but a bit overpriced, i thought.
