Product Description

Review

"These books are brilliant for taking on the road out to peripheral hospital placements, and cover all the essentials (plus a little bit more) on all the key topics. They have plenty of information to help explain those topics and subjects you see on the wards/in theatre. When time is a little short, and you simply need fast hard facts in an easy to read yet thorough way these books are simply perfect. I have no doubt in recommending them to my friends or any other medical student"
"Medical Student, University of Bristol, UK (series review)"

As a first year medical student, I have found this book invaluable. Initially I had purchased 'Review of Medical Physiology' by Ganong, and although good, I was overwhelmed by the detail. McGeown's 'Physiology' is extremely manageable, and is beneficial when used alongside a more in-depth physiology textbook. It is useful for an overview and revision guide to physiology.

Chapters are well organised, structured by physiology of systems (beneficial as many medical courses are now arranged in this way). Overall I have found this book inexpensive and very helpful.

Useful Textbook 6 Oct 2009
Format:Paperback
Bought this textbook to help with the physiology module of my pharmacy degree. It is well set out and covered most of the topics discussed in my lectures. Has helped me get back into the understanding of biology related topics which i had forgotten about during my gap year. A definite purchase if you have a physiology module in your degree course.

McGeown has produced a Physiology book that is perfectly aimed at undergraduate level Physiology for Medical students and similar degrees. As a second year who has been lectured by this author, I can confirm that the level this book is written at is perfect for the level that Physiology is taught in undergrad Medicine during the pre-clinical years.

I originally bought Textbook of Medical Physiology: With STUDENT CONSULT Online Access and found it to be a great book. The problem with Guyton was the detail and depth it went into was far beyond anything I needed, and was very daunting. McGeown gently introduces Physiology, and can be used alongside more detailed Physiology books as a quick reference guide if necessary.
