Product Description

Product Description

"Physics for Future Presidents" gives the reader the science behind the headlines - the tools of terrorists, the dangers of nuclear power and the reality of global warming. We live in complicated, dangerous times. They are also hyper-technical times. As citizens of the world today, we need to know-truly understand, not just rely on television's experts - if Iran's nascent nuclear capability is a genuine threat to the West, if biochemical weapons are likely to be developed by terrorists, if there are viable alternatives to fossil fuels, if nuclear power should be encouraged and if global warming is actually happening. This book is written in non-technical language on the science behind the concerns that the West faces in the immediate future. Even active readers of serious journalism will be surprised by the lessons that the book contains. It is essential information for all leaders - and citizens - of the twenty-first century.

This book gives a good overview of the scientific concepts behind many important, and high profile, topics. The book avoids unnecessary details, you don't need to have studied physics to understand it and if you have studied science it won't bore you. It makes a valid point that the world is increasingly reliant upon high technology, yet many people - including politicians and the media - don't feel the need to understand it.

This book isn't just for future presidents, if everybody took the time to read this book the world would be a much better place! It encourages the reader to think about cause and consequence, rather than dismiss reason and rely on emotion.

This book changed my perception of many controversial issues in our world. Information is presented in a simple, rigorous way without losing interest.
I think the title could discourage some readers, but I think the book is clearly intended to be useful for any literate citizen. The energy chapter is, in my opinion, the best one.
Many of frequent arguments with our friends, colleagues and the like could be settled with the information in this book.
In my opinion it should be a 'must' for any voter in modern societies.

Physics for Future Presidents: The Science Behind the Headlines
This is a very good book. But do not get the kindle edition since it has no pictures or diagrams (just the statement on every time...IMAGES IN THIS BOOK ARE NOT DISPLAYEDED DUE TO PERMISSION ISSUES). Some of these are essential or at least helpful for understanding! I think one should be warned. Certainly I would have purchased the paperback or hard copy if I had known this.
