5.0 out of 5 stars Bought to replace an Epson Printer 29 Nov 2012
By Steven L. Gordon - Published on Amazon.com
I bought the HP 7525 from Costco at a great deal. It is the same as this model, but sells at the warehouse stores. My old Epson printer was still working great but it had no WiFi capability, so I got the HP.

Wow, what a great printer! I downloaded the software and manuals from the HP internet site instead of using the disks, and it was flawless. The WiFi setup could not be easier and I was up and running in less than half an hour. We can now print from our iPhones and iPads seamlessly and the printer even has its own email address where we can email documents from anywhere to be printed out. It was even nice that I was allowed to pick my own printer name for the email (myname@hpeprint.com). I went ahead and bought the bulk ink cartridges from Costco, should last me a few years!

Another nice feature that my Epson did not have is the ability to have both regular paper and 4 by 6 photo paper loaded at the same time.

So far I give this printer a 5 star rating and will update as I get into scanning and copying. By the way, this was the number one ink jet all in one printer in the latest Consumer Reports guide.

UPDATE 8/5/2013
Printer is still doing great and I have also used the copier and scan functions very successfully. For scanning you can scan to email, usb stick, or computer which is very handy. The only problem I have is that it is way to easy to use. The wife prints everything from her iPad, right from the comfort of the living room sofa...

Update 12/26/2013
Printer is still going great, it even survived a cross country move. It did lose the wifi settings, but setting up again was a breeze.

Regards,
Steve

1.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Efficient At Wasting Ink 5 Oct 2013
By Deva J Gouss - Published on Amazon.com

I've been using workhorse HP printers for over twenty years and been quite happy. In February I thought I'd upgrade to the "latest and greatest" feature set by buying two of these 7520 printers.

The print quality is fine, the feature set is impressive.

But there is a BIG, BIG "BUT":

(BTW, I just wasted almost TWO FULL HOURS of my work day with HP "customer support" and got ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE.)

I am getting about 210 pages per 564 black XL cartridge (the box says I should get "up to 550" pages).

My "photo black" cartridge has had to be replaced TWICE -- EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NEVER PRINTED A SINGLE PHOTO OR FULL COLOR PAGE ON THIS PRINTER.

ALL THREE of the color cartridges have likewise needed to be replaced TWICE -- again EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NEVER PRINTED A PHOTO OR FULL COLOR PAGE ON THIS PRINTER.

I read in Consumer Reports ("The case of the disappearing ink," August 13, 2013) that this particular printer is THIRD FROM THE WORST in terms of wasting ink of all the printers they tested.

Here's the scam: the printer "automatically" cleans your print heads on a regular basis for you. Sounds like a cool feature, right? Well, it's a (I believe) deliberate strategy to use up your ink faster, so that (of course) you'll have to BUY MORE INK.

The proof is that my photo black and color cartridges are draining out, even though I always print in "default" (not "high quality") mode, and NEVER PRINT ANYTHING IN COLOR (except incidental logos from bank statements or color s***that you can't NOT print when you buy movie tickets, etc).

I also finally got the support tech (who was REMARKABLY unhelpful) to admit that the black "photo" ink is also used even when you're just printing everyday text documents.

(He also had the nerve to try to explain the disappearance of my color ink by pointing out that I have printed out 9 "printer status reports" [the only way to find out how many pages you've printed since changing cartridges] since purchasing the printer -- when these reports use a TINY amount of color ink to tell you how much of each color is left in the cartridge!)

We've all known for quite some time that printer companies sell you the hardware for cheap, and then rape you on the cost of ink.

BUT THIS LEVEL OF RIP-OFF IS BEYOND THE PALE.

DON'T BUY THIS PRINTER UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS PER YEAR IN INK COSTS!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really like this 2 Nov 2012
By Bonnie P. - Published on Amazon.com
I bought this to replace an HP Envy 114 that looked good but just didn't deliver in the functionality department. This printer provides fast, high quality documents and photos. The ink is reasonably priced and the colors come in individual cartridges, so I won't have to throw away a partially used cartridge just because one color is out. With the 7520 you really can fax - without the need to subscribe to a special service. It holds a reasonable amount of paper and it's very easy to adjust the paper tray to print envelopes. This printer may not be as pretty as the Envy, but it's a great, functional, all-in-one printer and that's what I wanted.

3.0 out of 5 stars Printer is great, customer service is NOT! 6 Nov 2012
By Laura D. Weber - Published on Amazon.com

I had a problem getting this printer to work. So, I called the customer service center, I was transfered to India! I was on the phone with them for more than three hours! (until the phone went dead!) They were hard to understand, sorry, and did not help at all! I finally got it to work, on my own! And the printer is great! Just wish I could say the same thing about the customer service! I just think that if we spend this much on a printer, and need help, we should be able to speak to someone that understands us, and that we can understand as well. And I TOTALLY DO NOT mean to offend anyone, this was just my experence!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love This Printer... 15 Oct 2012

I had a slightly older model than this one and was happy enough but had a it few issues that made me unhappy. I figured I'd take a chance on the HP PS7520 and so far, I am thrilled. It was easy for me to set up and easy to operate. I especially love the quality of the photos that it prints. Has some good options to use. I would recommend this to anyone.
