Print, personalise and share your photos with this ultimate portable printer. The HP Photosmart A636 prints full size 13 x 18 cm photos wherever you go, with or without a PC, letting you add captions, borders and other creative effects via the 12 cm touch screen. You can enjoy fingertip control of a whole range of photo printing tools via the big, bright tilting touch screen, using your finger or the included stylus to access the menus on the edge of the screen and view, select and edit your photos. It also lets you draw directly onto your photos – try adding cartoon-style effects – or create captions by writing freehand or tapping on the touch screen keyboard. There are 20 different colour options and 5 font styles available to use when drawing and labelling, giving you more from your photos with a whole library of creative effects and tools at your fingertips. Choose from more than 300 creative elements including borders and clip art, then print them in whatever size you want – right up to 13 x 18 cm – with or without borders. You can also try your hand at the 30 different tools and effects available with HP Design Gallery including pet-eye fix, sepia printing and touch-up, and create greeting cards and invitations with step-by-step on-screen help.
Wherever you go the HP A636 allows quick, easy printing, as well as giving lab-quality photos with or without a PC. From the self-installing HP Quick Connect software to its convenient memory card slots and automatic red eye removal, this compact, portable printer makes photo printing effortless. You can add even greater versatility with an optional HP Bluetooth adapter and print direct from camera phones, or use an optional rechargeable battery that allows you to print wherever you want.

I bought this as a gift for someone who does not want to use a PC but likes printing their own photos. (It replaced an old Epson Picturemate photo printer that went wrong.) I was very impressed at the amount of things you can do with it, including adding text, clipart, frames, etc. It can automatically remove red eye too, which is something the previous printer lacked. We were also pleased to see you can print 2 photos to a sheet (an option we were glad this printer had as we found it useful with the old Epson).Make sure you order a spare ink cartridge and photo paper when ordering as the trial cartridge that comes with it is only supposed to print something like 8 pages before it runs out. (We found our photo paper left over from our Epson worked just as well in this printer.) Overall we are very impressed with the capabilities considering it is not connected to a PC. A perfect gift for any photographer who doesn't own (or want to use) a computer.

Having been printing lots of photographs with the HP psc 2115 printer for a couple of years I decided to buy a dedicated photo printer and as my other HP was so reliable I have purchased a HP A636 printer. It is built for idiots to use, I am no idiot but anyone could use this printer, it is brilliant with easy to follow on screen instructions and a host of menus to do all sorts of magical things to your photograph. If you want a good photo printer, get this one, very compact stand alone, portable, good value for money and can be connected to your PC for more adventurous applications. Brilliant. Fred Brown

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and am very pleased with the excellent printing it produces. It is easy to use with clear instructions and i was able to connect to my computer and print off that too!.Would recommend highly for anyone wanting instant photos of excellent quality.Was encouraged (from other reviews) to buy extra paper and ink as it only comes with 3 sheets of photo paper and ink for a few photos.
