5.0 out of 5 stars No nonsense guidance, 29 April 2004
By A Customer
Like all the other Visual Quickstart guides, you cannot go wrong with thisguide for Photoshop CS. Photoshop has so may functions that it is a bitdaunting to tackle, but this easy to follow guide is perfect to show youthe way. No endless paragraphs, no patronising comments… just how to do itin easy steps, with pictures. This book even contains some colour imagesof Photoshop fundi’s to give you a taste of what is possible with thisvery powerful program. A must for any novice or if you need no nonsenseguidance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clear, concise and quite readable, 4 Dec 2008
By G. Horsham (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
As a novice to photo editing, I have to admit Photoshop is quite a complicate product and quite daunting to work with. What I needed was a quick start guide on the most common functions that would be applicable for me, and this book does just that.

It breaks down these functions into discrete sections within the book. So you have the first chapter on getting to grips with the basics of Photoshop and then looks at colours and the different colour schemes that can be used. Other more advanced topics such as layering, gradients and masking are covered, terms that originally filled me with fear, but now at least I know what the mean and when they should be used (but still need to practice lots).

I found the book more than adequately covered what I was hoping to get out of Photoshop. For the more advanced user, I expect a lot more detail may be required, but for me, this book was a perfect way to start.
