Whether you’re new to Photoshop, or if you’ve been using it for years, you’ll learn lots of new tricks that will help put the beauty back into cherished family photos, and turn new photos into frameable works of art.

Follow Adobe Certified Photoshop Expert Mark Fitzgerald as he guides you through the restoration and retouching workflows. Then learn to master Photoshop’s retouching tools, like the Healing Brush, Patch Tool, and Clone Stamp. After you build a solid foundation, you’ll see how these tools and techniques come together to solve a wide range of restoration and retouching problems; from repairing a damaged print to removing braces and repairing glass glares.

Explore the tools and techniques with step-by-step expert instructions for downloadable practice files. Experience the total workflow as you complete three projects along side Mark from start to finish: a restoration project, a portrait retouching project, and an architectural retouching project.

This book is an update to Mark Fitzgerald’s popular book, Adobe Photoshop CS3 Restoration and Retouching Bible.

3.0 out of 5 stars Photoshop CS5 Restoration and Retouching 27 July 2010
Format:Paperback
I own many Photoshop and Photography books. I was drawn to this title because i carry out a lot of repairs to damaged and aged photographs. Obvioulsly with volumes on Software there is inevitably "information overlap" and most of the titles explain the various elements in a similar fashion. Having written that, there are books that stand out due to the quality and depth of the information offered;this particular book does not fall into this category. However this is not a negative review, although i was initially dissappointed that the title was not as "advanced" as i would have wished for i perservered and read the book. I have found it to be well written, exceptionally clear and nicely concise.
I suppose because i have used Photoshop since version 4 in a proffesional capacity both as a photographer and re-toucher that i have long since absorbed the relevant information on System setup, backup and archiving, Colour management etc, consequently the chapters in the book that explained these fundamentals were for me personally redundant, however to be fair to the author he does write in his introduction that the book is not necessarily for the "accomplished Photoshop user" in which case these sections are relevant and useful.
In all honesty i would not recommend this book to advanced users of Photoshop as i feel they will find themselves "skipping" large sections of the book to isolate the odd bit of informtaion here and there. Again in defence of the Author he does not market this book towards advanced users. It is a book that i would recommend to beginers and intermediate users who might not have covered restoration and repair in any great detail previously. It is well written and the information is clear and understandable with good clear illustration.

4.0 out of 5 stars Photoshop CS5 Restoration and Retouching 11 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback
Whilst seeking a book to aid in helping restore old photo's, there was little else around and sometimes that doesn't help in offering choice or aiding in the level of understanding, regarding photoshop techniques etc. However, I had little to worry about and this book is not that advanced or poorly written to lose you either. The first several chapters are the basics and will help those beginner to intermediate users, and then you discover the book tackles the photo restoration. As helpful as it was, it is certainly one book that should accompany those unsure of how to enhance a scanned photograph. I seriously doubt this has touched on anything photoshop can do, but it has brought so many old photos back to life that I can now utilise in other ways and other techniques. I would add though, if you do know your way around photoshop, don't bother with this book.
