5.0 out of 5 stars Easy book to use 30 Mar 2009
Format:Paperback
I bought this book recently from Amazon after finding Photoshop Elements 6 pre-loaded on my computer. After a few weeks of trying to work out how to use it i gave up and bought this book to assist me. An excellent book in my opinion, clear step by step instructions and well ilustrated, very easy to folow. It covers the organiser side of Elements, teaching you how to quickly manage your photos and also the editing side as well. In the editor it teaches basic levels adjustment right through to working with layers and special effects. You could read this book from cover to cover or use it as a reference book, just reading the chapters that are relevant for you at the time. I am a complete novice with Elements and i started learning within minutes of opening the book, i would say this book would also be useful for more advanced Elements users as well because of the depth it covers. I highly recommend it!

Well written and easy to understand. This book will have you enjoying Photoshop Elements in very short order. I do believe this is the instruction manual that should have been packaged with the soft ware.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Guide for Beginners 1 Nov 2009
By Curious - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I'm not someone who learns how to use software applications from books very easily. But this is about the best book I've found for learning editing techniques in Photoshop Elements 6. The descriptions are clearly written for English speakers and not too involved. The accompanying screen shots and illustrations let me know I'm doing the right thing when I see them on my monitor. Wonderful positive reinforcement!

I also have 'Photoshop Elements 6 - The Missing Manual'; which is an excellent supplement if I want to dig in to more complexity and detail for any given Elements editing feature. It's what might be more likely referred to as a bible for P.E. 6. But, for me, it's too much to use as a starting point on its own.

Get the Visual Quickstart guide if you too like more hand holding and baby steps when trying to learn software apps from a book. It's not a condescending 'dummies' approach. Just clear and easy to follow.

2.0 out of 5 stars More Confusion 23 Feb 2011
By critical mess - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I've owned this book for three years and have learned practically nothing form it. It is a confusing mess, complicating the simple and simplifying the complex. He constantly used words and phrases with no definition and no prior use. He also hops around, seemingly not knowing what people need to know first, then second, etc. The book tells you what to do, sort of, but does a terrible job of telling you HOW to do it!
