The Photo-Realists, creators of the most popular movement in American painting to emerge in the 1970s, portray the bright shiny surface of the American Dream in amazingly real paintings. 5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Book 22 Oct 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Probably one of the best art books you could ever buy - along with 'Photorealism since 1980' and 'Photorealism at the Millennium'. A huge volume filled with great images. You may have to pay a high price to get a decent copy these days, even so, it's a book that you will never get tired of looking at.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Comprehensive Survey Worth Owning 8 Feb 2013
By wabbit - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I found this book in a bargain bin for 15 bucks years ago. Then it became really hard to find and used copies were going for $300 and more. I was fortunate enough to apprentice for several years with master screen printer Norman Lassiter (mentioned in the book and partnered with Mr.Meisel) who developed the step posterization process that many of the painters in this book used for their fine art reproductions. Whether or not you agree with the overall relevance of Photorealism in the context of modern art history, this hefty volume offers a very complete, high image quality document of a period in painting that can not be denied, at least for the level of technical skill and patience that was required to produce it. It is well worth having on any art book collector's shelf.
