Product Description

Product Description

Digitization is the biggest advance in the history of photography. While some seasoned photographers may still be wary of the filmless technique, unbiased children have easily found their way into the digital world. Children are excited by the instant gratification of capturing an image and immediately seeing the result.

With today’s digital cameras, what used to be an expensive and disappointing process is now as easy as pie. Enthusiastic and confident children are able to handle digital cameras with remarkable skill. The instant feedback motivates them to continue exploring, and soon they are able to create small masterpieces full of inspiration and fantasy.

Photography for Kids introduces children between the ages of 8 and 14 to the world of photography. Technical concepts—like how a digital camera actually works—are explained in a way that is easy for children to understand. The book emphasizes creativity and presents techniques for capturing exciting images.

Not really what I expected 25 May 2011
By Splendor Road - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
As a photography and art teacher I have to say that this book is not really an educational guide like one you would use to instruct with. It is more like an interest guide to give to a child and let them explore through hoping that their interest is piqued. I was buying this for a budding photographer, who is a 9 year old, and while it will be interesting for her to look through, it just doesn't give enough meat. Keep looking... there has to be more out there.

DIFFERENT BUT LIKABLE 29 Sep 2011
By Jeff Ornstein - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This book is definately not what I expected; but in a good way I am glad for that. This is a book that most kids can 'read' and try to interpret for themselves. The author has a nice way of piquing the interest of its younger readers.

While the book is weak in technical details (there are many other books for that)it is written in such a way that 'kids' can explore and create their own visions of what to expect from photography.

For the last six months I have been teaching my nine year old grandaughter the art and technical techniques of digital photography. Although she has really grasped the technical side of the Canon 1DsII that I gave her, when I let her read this book she came to me with an entire list of 'projects' for US to try. That alone is reason enough to buy this book!
Gift for pre-teen friend 24 Jan 2012
By Gray Momma - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Friends' child has 'emergency call' phone with limited ability to make phone calls. However, she is a natural 'shutter bug'. She likes to share her photo essays with my husband who is a professional photographer. This is a great book with lots of full page, glossy pics to inspire further photography points of view and explore her equipment's versatility.
