This book is structured as a book for a photography course, but it very useful for self-taught photographers as well, especially those who had mastered the "technical" side but not the "artistic" one yet.
The book covers the the basic (and some not-so-basic) techniques for the main areas of photography (i.e. landscapes, portraiture, photo story, etc.). It encourages the reader to try what he/she learned with a lot of "practical assignments" and research hints.
The only drawback is some of its material has been reused in other Galer's books, i.e. "Essential skills - Location photography" making them overlap a bit too much.
