Great book that my wife bought me after seeing the large collection of blurred, badly framed pictures of the kids that I had taken with my expensive SLR on our last holiday. I had tried to improve things with photoshop but with little success until I followed the retouching techniques detailed in the book. It's amazing how much the snaps of my family have improved, so much so that now my wife has had some printed that have pride of place in our home. If you want to get good pictures of people get this book

I've made some pretty good progress playing around with my favorite pics in Photo shop elements over the last 3 months but this book has allowed me to come on in leaps and bounds. The writer obviously remembers his early days as there's a great empathy with the keen amateur. Some of the basic stuff is well recorded and not glossed over so that you start to get an excellent grounding in the science of light & photography and some of the results are really quite amazing and professional! I don't bother with the PS elements help anymore, just open up this book!

Perhaps if I was younger (around 10) or had never picked up a camera before this would have been a good & useful book.

As it is, I sold it after 2 days.

The book "teaches you to "use colour"; "shoot from a different angle"; and so on. Things I already do - and have been doing so for a long time.

If you're completely new to photography, this book may be worthwhile; however, anybody that has any imagination needs to move on to their next choice now.
