- Image Description: Lobster. Coloured X-ray of a common lobster (Homarus gammarus). This is a marine scavenger that inhabits the cool waters of the north-eastern Atlantic Ocean. It is valued for its flesh. Like all crustaceans, it has a hard exoskeleton. Its muscles (some seen in the legs) are attached to the inner walls of this exoskeleton. The exoskeleton is inflexible, and is cast off and regrown as the lobster grows.
