Product Description

Product Description

More than 250 species are included in this useful and concise pocket-sized guide, with each individual species account supported by a clear colour photograph. Thumbnail silhouettes, visually identifying the different family groups, are shown on the guide pages; these lead the reader quickly to the relevant section of the book. The introduction explains how to use the guide effectively and also contains fascinating information on bird biology and behaviour. It also has sections on Sri Lankan endemics and where to watch birds. The text has been fully updated to take account of the latest taxonomy, and many recently 'split' species are included.

If you have a moderate interest in birds and want a book that will fit in a backpack, this is the one. The photographs are clear and the text is helpful. It will suit all but the serious birdwatcher. It is not easily available in Sri Lanka, so buy a copy before you go!

We are keen amateur bird watchers, and we recently used this little book on a trip to Sri Lanka. We found it to be excellent value for money, and a useful size for carrying with us each day when we were out and about. The photographs and descriptions were sufficient to allow us to identify about 50 species during our trip.

A great pocket or handbag sized book which is just perfect for identifying the fabulous birds you will undoubtedly see during a visit to Sri Lanka. Lots of clear photos and discriptions of the birds.
