My 7 year old is getting into birds and ducks. He borrowed this home from his school library and we decided to buy him a copy (secondhand). Great reference book.

Format: Hardcover
This must be the definative publication on the birds of Britain and Europe - it covers 570 species, including rare visitors and migrants, with more than 1300 pictures to demonstrate them.
There is a map and illustration for each bird while the text includes English and scientific name, length, abundance, habitat, features of plumage, silhouette, behavioural ccaracteristics and finally songs and calls.
The excellent photographs are from multiple photographers while the text is from two prominent Swedish ornithologists.
This book has it all.

I use it frequently. It is so helpful to have photos instead of drawings. The layout is excellent making it easier to find birds quickly. An excellent overview book and great for learning.
