Excellent book with lots of useful general advice and tips for anyone new to photography. It really comes into its own when applying this information to specific settings and actions for the Nikon Coolpix P600. The author has fully utilised all of the useful features that this camera has, and gives advice in simple and importantly for a novice, understandable language.
For Example :
I spent a lot of time researching which camera to buy and narrowed it down to the P600 and the Canon SX50. In the end it came down to handling both and the P600 just felt "right" to hold. A feature that the SX50 had and was praised by most reviewers, was the quick zoom in and back out again if using a long telephoto setting where you may have lost sight of your subject, and which I would have found useful.
Nobody mentioned that the secondary zoom in/out control on the lens barrel of the P600 can be re-assigned to provide this, which Nikon call the "snap back" feature. The book explains how easy it is to set this up.
If you have a P600 or are thinking of getting one, then buy this book for tablet or PC. Would not use it on a non colour E reader as you will not get the benefit of the many colour photo examples throughout the book. Highly recommended

I would definitely recommend this book. The Nikkon instruction manual that comes with the camera is in my opinion inadequate and really just tells you how to turn it on. It does not provide any in depth explanations or instructions on the amazing capabilities of the camera and how to get the best out of it. I upgraded from a basic digital point and shoot camera to this Nikkon and am not a competent photographer ie no real grasp of photography language etc. But this book is a revelation. It clearly talks you through the functions of the camera and how to get the best out of your photography. Unless you are an experienced camera buff I would say buy this book. The author has done a brilliant job and it's an easy book to dip into and focus on a particular topic.

Excellent. Far superior to the Nikon manual. Clear, concise and well written.
It's a pity that manufacturers, in general, make no attempt to produce decent product documentation.
If you have a P600 this book will tell you all you want to know.

Wanted this to complement my new purchase. Very easy to understand for those of us who struggle with digital technology.

Just the job, if you prefer a small book on this camera. My only criticism (as usual) is that the author has not included any comments for people who use Apple computers to store and process their photos/movies rather than PC's. I should say that Apple devices recognise the camera and down load to iPhoto with no problems. I have yet to try iMovie.

Very instrictive. Able to dip in and out to review sections for a specific need

Although some of the information seems to refer to american cameras, as I didn't have all the steps on my camera that he talks about, nevertheless there was still enough interesting and helpful information to make it a very useful read.

Very good - but I'm an amateur who is not totally familiar with the vocabulary in some areas. There needs to be a shorter version which provides 'on-the-spot' information.
