Yes it works fine but generally the device is rather slow and it's not been quite the laptop usb equivalent that I hoped for

YES. The flash drive acts the same as any memory stick, connect via your USB 2 connection and cut and paste as you would any USB memory stick. then us on i-pad as normal. I use Dropbox to store and IOS or Windows reads the files in both.
