In many ways I shouldn't have bought this book. It is aimed at those considering travel photography as a career move whereas my prime motivation is to take my own amateur photography to a new level on my various travels. However it still suits my needs admirably. There is a balance between editorial and illustration which makes for a very enjoyable read and I found advice on equipment, planning and logistics very useful. Where the book really scores however is in providing copious ideas for subject matter, photographic themes, interesting angles, ways of engaging and composing all beautifully illustrated with the author's own work. It is this that will really inspire me on my next trip and hopefully move me on from clichéd and predictable shots. I look forward to seeing the wider world in new ways. Recommended.

Worth a read.. 9 July 2010
Format:Paperback
Definitely worth a read. The author has some interesting information. Im not a fan of his photographic style which is more grungy reportage and not as talented as many others but the information is good nonetheless.

For beginners and advanced 5 July 2010
By Matthew Dutile - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Photo Trekking is a very well paginated and simple to read book on commercial travel photography. I found it exceptionally informational on both advanced practices (pre and post production, branding, selling) and simple tips to look out for including composition, movement, focus, etc. The photography is stylistically unique and different than most classical travel books you will find. It's a great read for the new age of personal vision and style and I highly recommend picking it up.

Good photography guide 14 May 2010
By G. Hitchen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
There are some helpful tips in this book. I like that it includes the camera/lens settings for each shot (as I believe all such books should) and things like equipment checklist and travel tips. The book is well laid-out, organized and visually stimulating, with plenty of nice compositions and well edited images. It's the kind of book you could throw in your carry-on and take with you on your next vacation, then use as a guide to capture some great images, not the regular vacation snapshots we are used to seeing. Also some good tips on how to take photos and stay safe in unfamiliar and potentially dangerous locations. Definitely would recommend this book.
Coffee Table worthy! 26 Dec 2011
By Carlos Silva - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Been a fan of Nick's for a while, after discovering his blog. Nick's travels and photography skills shine here, while covering the challenges of not just the modern day working photographer, but a travel photographer as well. As someone who's been around the world a bit, the tips in this book are valuable and his advice to those wanted to work in the industry or just be a better photographer while on the road are invaluable.

I had this book on my wish list for a while. Thankfully, Santa got it for me this year! I'll have this book on the coffee table for a while.
