Product Description

Humanity has been kept bound within the solar system for decades by a hostile alien race known as the Screen. Although the military and tri-planetary government accepted humanity's containment, a group of officers and civilians escaped the solar system in the experimental starship they call PHOENIX. Determined to learn what the Screen ultimately has planned for humanity, the crew now roams the stars in search of their mysterious enemy.

Led by former cadets John Roberts and Julie Olson, the crew discover that humanity isn't the only race the Screen has interfered with. But as they learn more about the Screen, dissension within the crew and secrets about the EXODUS Project threatens to derail the mission.

Can John remain focused on the mission, or will his enemies and secrets of the PHOENIX break him?

This is the third novel in the exodus science fiction series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Silly money for a great series. 16 Mar 2012
By Wayne Robinson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I can't remember how I discovered this series. Whether it was an Amazon recommendation. Or whether it was a 'readers who have looked at ... have bought ...'

I wish I knew how I found it, because I would use that method more frequently.

99 cents for a book is just silly money. I wouldn't bother bending down to pick up a dollar lying on the ground. I bought the first book 'Exodus of the Phoenix' sight unseen, thinking that I wouldn't be losing much.

After the first few chapters, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I've now read all 3 books in 3 days. It isn't great science fiction, more of a level with 'Star Trek', but still it's very good. Some of the writing is a little clumsy, of the 'Meanwhile, back in the laboratory ...' kind. And there are errors such as stating that stars twinkle in outer space (you need convection cells in an atmosphere for that), insisting that a planet with plant life only doesn't have 'organic life' and continually making references to time of day as in 'first thing in the morning' as if on a star ship, Earth days would mean anything.

I was tempted to give the series 5 stars, and tried to think of a reason, why not? The best one I can think of is that the 4th and final book in the series ISN'T GOING TO BE COMING OUT UNTIL THE END OF 2012!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good story, needs more care with grammar 9 May 2012
By Terry Cornall - Published on Amazon.com

Fast-paced space-opera action, spoiled at times by poor grammar and incorrect word choice. (Gratuitous is not synonomous with courageous). Some of the science is a bit spotty, such as confusion between the function of sensors and data analysis tools and ignoring light-speed lag when dealing with ordinary radiation. I'm afraid that I found myself speed-reading it to get to the end, but at least I was engaged enough to want to get to the end. To me it read a bit like a screenplay for a TV series, with each chapter fitting in nicely as an episode but still with minor and major themes running throughout. That's not necessarily a disadvantage for this type of story. More character development would have been appreciated. The characters were somewhat stereotyped and there weren't many surprises in the plot.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good addition to the series 25 Mar 2012
By John W. Baughn Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed the first two books and was very happy with the plot and story line. The characters both human and alien worked well and kept the story building. This last one starts to get darker and builds up a big body count. That said, I enjoyed it a lot and look forward to the fourth book to see where this is going. However the author pissed me off with Alex'sis, that was uncalled for. Not just stuck in a knife but twisted it around for effect. Needless to say I liked the characters...

The series just keeps getting better and better. Keep them coming, I cannot wait until the next release. Give us a hint when that will happen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best yet! 25 Mar 2012
By Tracy Jeanis - Published on Amazon.com

The original story line pulled me into the series. Book 2, to me, really defined the series and developed the author's vision and view of the world. With this latest edition, the author really has fun with the story, the characters and allows us to wander around in his universe. I very much enjoyed the book, it opened up a few new and surprising elements and we saw some fantastic action. I am already waiting for the next book!
