4.0 out of 5 stars The Master at Work, part 3 14 Oct 2000
By "looscannon" - Published on Amazon.com
Franco Saudelli is an undisputed genius in the genre he has made practically his own. Not only has his artwork rightfully acheived cult status, but the tomes themselves are decadently engaging in manner a well worth the minor guilt. Nowhere are these aspects more epitomized than in his series, The Blonde.

Yet, in spite of Saudelli's brilliance, The Blonde shares the same fate that The Naked Gun and Guns & Roses - mainly that they are cursed by having their finest work first, which ultimately sets the more fickle up for disappointment. The Blonde: Double Cross matched first-rate illustrations with a fast-paced adventure, garnished generously with kinky flair that perfectly married the best elements of eroticism with glib campiness.

Part 2, Bondage Palace, was a victim of heightened expectations. It lacked the purity of Part 1's full-throttle girl bondage formula and exclusive vampish femme fatale cast of characters, but it was still a treat by any other standard.

Part 3, PHOEBUS PALACE, veers slightly back towards the first installment's heady-yet-playfull eroticism. There is great nudity and bondage within, though it doesn't quite reach the velocity of DOUBLE CROSS's pace. Also, the lines are not quite as crisp and clean as in the first, though it is still a peerless example of illustration and erotic aesthetic.

Bottom line, it's absolutely worth the look, as there is nothing that really compares to an episode of The Blonde in any other medium. You get artwork and a story that is erotic but not vulgar; lighthearted but not puerile. Though some of Saudelli's material is better than others, there is no such thing as a bad The Blonde story. Get it while you can, because they become rare and expensive sooner than you think.

Anyone who is familiar with "The Blonde" or Saudelli has a specific taste. This 3rd installment of The Blonde series doesn't fail to satisfy. The pin-up is beautiful. The art is clean. The bondage is top-notch. The stories are what one would expect from any campy/pulp piece of fiction. But I don't believe many folks bought this for the writing. If you like nurses, leather, masked women, bare feet, big boobs and campy action/sci-fi/comedy all "bound" together, you'll love this.
