5.0 out of 5 stars Phlebotomy Theory 2 Mar 2011
A very good resource for studying phlebotomy, very informative with excellent summaries but need to be wary as USA based, some information and guidelines not used in U.K, otherwise an excellent study guide.

As a nurse it is a requirement to update yourself in all areas of practice, therefore using this to update myself on phlebotomy was really useful and other members of my team have also used it with good remarks made.

3.0 out of 5 stars pretty good, but some serious errors 6 Feb 2010
By A. Ridgeway - Published on Amazon.com
This book is pretty good. The authors were renowned in their field. BUT...it is not that well written. Many of the explanations are too vague for a beginner. Example, the difference between Informed Consent and Expressed Consent - they do not make any effort to differentiate.
Also, it was BADLY EDITED, and has a number of errors, as does the workbook, and testbank. Some of the answers to test questions are wrong, and most are written poorly. Sometimes it will tell you 2 different answers to the same question in 2 different parts of the book. Also, the Order of Draw is very outdated, since well before the latest edition updates.
Most of the info is good, but unless you are taking a course from a great instructor who has spent a lot of time in the field, just get something else. My extremely distinguished teacher suggests "Phlebotomy Handbook: Blood Specimen Collection from Basic to Advanced (8th Edition) by Diana Garza and Kathleen Becan-McBride" (Paperback - Mar. 6, 2009)
you can find it here: http://www.amazon.com/Phlebotomy-Handbook-Specimen-Collection-Advanced/dp/0135134242/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1265436502&sr=8-2
I just ordered the handbook, and will review it and compare it to this book within the next month or 2.
