Nigel Warburton is a freelance philosopher and podcaster and bestselling author of several popular introductory Philosophy books including A Little History of Philosophy, Philosophy: The Basics, Thinking from A to Z, Philosophy: The Classics, Free Speech: A Very Short Introduction, Philosophy: Basic Readings, Freedom: An Introduction with Readings, and The Art Question. He has also co-edited two books based on his popular Philosophy podcast which he makes with David Edmonds 'Philosophy Bites'. On Twitter he his @philosophybites, and he runs the weblogs Virtual Philosopher and Art and Allusion. It has clear guidance for those who are unsure with how to structure an essay. It actually sets out different types of exam and essay questions and shows how one can complete them to a higher degree.

I highly recommend this book as a wonderful general introduction to the subject of philosophy. Warburton is at his best when explaining the parameters of his chosen field to the neophyte.

Some people can't get on with this bloke but I think he's spot on for this level of learning. I've read the book and have no doubts I'll read it again with the contents being well structured and succinct.
I have no reservations in recommending this book to anyone wanting what it says on the tin!
