You can't have too much of a good thing but my recommendation is to spend a lot of time with the real thing. Much as I love Magee this book is fast food compared with Popper himself. Popper can really change the way you see your world. 'Popper' (Philosophy and the Real World) gives an idea of the scope and importance of the man's work.
I have lent this book to my Dentist. May give you the benefit of his reactions after my next appointment. :-)
Bryan Magee summarizes in this small book superbly the work of Karl Popper: the elimination of the induction problem, the falsification criterion as a demarcation between science and non-science, the characterization of marxism as well as the Enlightment (the perfectibility of man) as historicisms, the responsibility of the individual. The best possible introduction to the work of one of the most important philosophers of all times.
First published as "Popper" by Fontana Paperbacks, London, 1973, this edition is the same excellent presentation of the epistemology of Karl Popper, the greatest philosopher of science of the XXth century. Bryan Magee gives with this book a clear outline of Popper's philosophy based upon his theory of knowledge. Popper's is a systematic philosophy, the study of the natural world (science) and the understanding of society and politics, are parts of a single philosophy. We find the same epistemology applied to the logic of scientific discovery and to politics through the vision of the open society. The best introduction to Karl Popper.
