When my lightweight Tefal gave up the ghost recently, I bought this Philips GC4310 Azure Precise based on the 4 positive Amazon reviews. And the reviewers weren't wrong: it's a really great buy and I'm very impressed with it.

It's got a much bigger 'footprint' than my old iron and it's a tad heavier, but not massively so. My arm isn't dropping off by the end of each ironing session, simply because I'm no longer spending hours running the thing backwards & forwards trying to shift those creases! (I've now realised that with my old iron I used to have my thumb more or less permanently on the 'extra shot of steam' button in order to try and generate enough steam to get the job done.) This Philips product really is designed for STEAM ironing, first and foremost, and it shot through all my laundry beautifully. The steam is powerful enough to iron single-folded bedlinens etc without having to do the other side; and my old cotton trousers, which used to look just 'passably ironed', are now crisp and firm and look & feel steam-pressed.

It comes with a generous (coffee mug-sized) plastic water dispenser, but on its maximum steam setting it does get through water very quickly, so I use a litre jug for top-ups. I've found I can iron a double duvet and a couple of pillowcases before topping up. There's a large covered aperture for refilling, and it's very easy to see the current water level within the body of the iron. There's a bright orange temperature indicator (which personally I think is set a little too low on the handle, as my hand covers it up when I'm ironing), and it reaches the correct temperature very quickly (about 10 seconds to go from Silk to Cotton setting).

I bought this iron after reading other reviews on amazon and I love it (as much as you can love ironing!) I usually buy the most expensive because I think that that is the best, but I decided that with Christmas coming I would trust the reviews and I was not dissapointed. My last iron cost loads more and was rubbish compared to this (It has cut my ironing time in half). The steam is really effective and it heats up in no time and its really quiet so I can watch and HEAR TV while I iron.
If you are still in doubt then take the risk....it truley is worth the money.

I bought this recently to replace an iron I'd had for years. This is a joy to use (I hate ironing). It's quite heavy and a little bulky but sails through the weekly load with ease. The water filler is easy to use which is just as well as there is a lot of steam. This is by far the best iron I have ever used.

Having tried out one of the latest steam generating irons that cost almost £200 and being less than impressed ( it was terribly noisy, took up too much room and didn't seem to iron that well anyway ) - I bought this Philips gc4310 with fingers crossed. Wow - this iron really performs. And for a bargain price - I love all the features , and the steam output is fantastic. Thankyou Philips for a really great product.

The steam tip feature is worth having for getting into small areas such as those intricate areas on combat style trousers. A tad heavy, but the advantages of the large water reservoir, plentiful steam, long flex, and easy controls, etc. far outweigh any gripe on this score. I am in agreement with a previous reviewer - 'the best iron I have ever had'. Recommended.
