I've now had the centre and two stations for six years and, apart from the frustrating software problems, the system has provided reliable service with very good sound quality, an ability to hold all of my 400 or so CDs and the facility of being able to access my collection from three locations. Another big bonus is being able to take a station out into the garden at barbeques - or by taking the center, at a guests house as well.
I also play back music through a 'Bose' sound system which is designed for this type of computer based hardware with fabulous results.
It is not for everyone obviously, but for those with a modicum of computer skills it is first class - that said I accept that a notebook laptop will provide a similar result but requires a boot up time and separate speaker system.

Second Rate 4 July 2011
I bought 3 of the WAS7500 and the WACS7000 instead of the Sonos system. Both cost roughly the same but on paper the Philips system seems better. What a mistake... The Streamium is the worst music system I have ever used, from the counter intuitive menus, the constant restarts, differing remote button mapping per mode, to the poor sound quality. The USB feed caused power issues with my iPod and when it did read the device track information was garbled.
Avoid unless you enjoy resetting your wireless network every couple of days due to a poor UPNP implementation.

On the plus side they look impressive.

addidtional station 27 Nov 2010
I ordered the philips streamium station as a second station to go with my main music centre, so I knew what I was buying. The product arrive within 3 days of order and was well packed and complete in its box. Just what I would have expected with no snags.
