5.0 out of 5 stars It Works!, 26 Aug 2008
By M. Dowden (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
I have used electric toothbrushes on and off over the years, but have always returned to good old reliable manual brushes. Recently I paid a visit to the dentist for the first time in well over 20 odd years. Hooray I didn't need any fillings or work done, only a clean up. I smoke, which doesn't do your teeth and gums any good, and also I tend to scrub my teeth quite hard. So I have gums that have started to recede and teeth that are stained. I was advised to use an electric toothbrush, which I had started doing as I had broken my dominant arm. I was using an old Oral B 3D Excel, but I found that it slipped off my teeth as it was spinning so fast, also the battery was getting old in it.

After looking around I thought that I would have a go of this brush, and what a difference. The head oscillates at 15000 movements per minute, making it slower than a lot of brushes, but it also means that you have greater control of the head. There is a small head that sweeps from side to side that helps clean in between teeth (although I wouldn't recommend you to stop flossing). The round head seems to have more bristles than my old Oral B and is slightly larger, so there is less need to move it up and down over the tooth as it covers most of them. The best thing is that now I have seen the hygienist for the second time to have my teeth 'descaled' she said that my gums and teeth look better.

What may put some people off of buying this is that there is no timer, but I know that it takes about 3 1/2 minutes to clean my teeth thoroughly so this doesn't bother me. Providing you know that you clean your teeth for the minimum 2 minutes, you won't have any problems. The motor starts to whirr and the head clicks back, so you know if you are brushing too hard, which especially for someone who is heavy handed like me, will be of great benefit.

I recommend you strongly to read the enclosed leaflet if you buy this brush, as it tells you how to care for your brush and about maximising the life of the battery. All in all I am impressed with this model, as my teeth look and feel cleaner and my gums look healthier. I will not be going back to a manual toothbrush again, and unless I suddenly find something that is much better I will not be changing my brush hopefully for years to come.

Cleans very well, excellent for the price, only downside is battery life seems low, you have to keep it on almost constant charge.
