This is a brilliant light. I also have the cateye nano shot (quite bright for a commuter light) and was thinking of getting another one, and a came across this.
It doesn't have a flashing mode, but apart from that its great, and much brighter than the nano shot at night.

Only criticism is it uses a ball and socket type joint, (similar to what you get on camera tripods) and I cant tighten the collar enough to completely lock the ball in place, so light moves a little going over bumps. I'm trying to convince myself this is a feature to allow manual adjustment on the fly, but I suspect not!

UPDATE: I've reduced the forward movement when riding, by rotating the handlebar collar so the ball and socket joint is not vertical but leaning towards the rider, (so the light would point up 45 %) , then I tip the light down until it is horizontal again, but now it cannot drop any further as the ball&socket is now fully extended in the downward direction, and the light stays level.

UPDATE2: Jan 2014: I called Philips on the international freephone number. They are sending out a 'normal' bracket. Fingers crossed! If you call it helps to have the box to hand so they can input the barcode. Item arrived a week later. Haven't attached it yet...

UPDATE3: Apr 2014: The non-ball joint mount arrived about 2 weeks after I called them, but I've only now taken the bike out of it's winter covers. The rubber inserts supplied with the mount were too thick for my handlebars, and I couldn't easily remove the old ones without risk of damaging them, so I wrapped some self amalgamating tape on the bar instead of using rubber strips.

I've reviewed this in more detail on YouTube, but this is a superb light. It's well built, easy to install and simple to operate. The advantage this light has over other, more powerful lights, is that its beam shape is designed not to blind other road users. It's a little bit like a car headlamp except not as strong. You can easily use it on full power and see 100 yards in front of you at 30mph, while blinding no-one else. Superb.

The beam doesn't quite cover the corners enough to give 100% confidence on unilluminated roads, so perhaps Philips can work on that - it just needs a little bit more light on the extreme lower left and right. But I'm nit-picking really.

Don't be concerned about lumen figures, don't be swayed into thinking a 1000 lumen light from China will be better on the roads - it won't. This gives you more than enough light to do silly speeds in pitch dark environments by focusing the beam just where you need it. Other, cheaper lights will waste at least half their energy illuminating the sky. Great if you're off-road, not so great on the road.

My light came with two brackets, I didn't bother with the ball joint version, I just put the fixed version on the bars.

Used this light on the 2013 Dunwich Dymano bike ride – 120 mile overnight. It gave excellent road visibility on half beam and full bean was incredibly powerful – used that for the fast downhill sections.

Battery life was great. Although I didn't test the Philips rechargable batteries fully as I switched them out after about 5hrs at a rest stop. The indicator had gone into the red and rather than having to change them on a dark road i decided to use the illuminated stop point.

The only negative is the bike mount. The light sits on a ball mount which I just couldn't get tight. Every time I hit a pothole or lump the light would jiggle around, sometimes a little, sometime a lot. When it was a lot, it meant having to take my hand off the handle bar and reposition the light - not great.

Overall:
Amazing bike light
Average light fitting
