This is a seriously handy piece of kit. In standard use it is a 3 in, 1 out, switched SCART selector box, but it also has a handy trick up its sleeve.

There are three sockets that attach to devices other than your TV (TV output goes from a fourth SCART socket). Rather than just settling with 3 inputs and 1 output, there are switches to allow you to use the first input socket as another output. This effectively means that any devices connected to sockets B and C of the input sockets can also output to socket A, allowing you to record from one device to another without disconnecting from the TV. Very useful. The choices presented by the switching allow for maximum flexability allowing you to play from one device to another (say VCR to VCR for recording) whilst using the third device on your TV (your playstation maybe).

The box also rather conveniently has a pair of AV phono outputs built in (one set for your TV and one set for an auxiliary device) so it can also act as an adapter from SCART.

All in all this is a very useful device and good for the price. It only loses points on lack of mounting points and also I found that if I were to put the box in any position that meant the weight of the cables were not supported (i.e. on top of my TV) then they often slightly pulled away from the box causing a partial disconnection. Mostly this was just annoying but could cause problems and this was what eventually led to the demise of my last box of this design (the sockets became damaged by the weight of the cables pulling on them). This said it did last me a few years which is fine in my books.

As these things go this model is particularly good in terms of its functionality and because the inputs are switched it means there are no issues with two live devices competing against each other. All in all it's a decent buy that will be a flexible and extremely useful addition to your home cinema setup.

Agree with one of the other reviews here. It's unbranded and NOT Philips as they have in the product picture.
These devices are very handy when you need to connect several devices - however this one is poor quality. I got waves of dots across the screen and the intended luxury of never having to mess around with the jungle of cables at the back of the tv never materialised. The instructions too, although they didn't have to be much, were in pig English (imagine 1 person trying to translate from e.g. Italian to Greek to Swedish to English..) I'm putting this on a slowboat to China to be recycled as soon as my Holdan scart router arrives.

I too have received an unbranded, poorly packaged product - not by Philips at all. What is Amazon doing about these sort of things happening?

I haven't even bothered with their returns dept - just a waste of time, effort and money.

NOT why one chooses to shop at Amazon in the first place - think their policy of using third party sellers is a big mistake.

I would avoid this retailer if I were you.
