Pros:
+ powerful
+ deep, subtle bass
+ above average mid-tones
+ good-looking
Cons:
- poor quality transformer
- fixed length satellite cables
- mediocre stereo separation
- somewhat lacking mid-tones
- poor satellite socket
Bottom Line:
I have been using this set for about a year now. It is an upgrade from crap quality Durabrand HT-377 (Asda) 2.1 system. For PC speakers, Philips kit sounds fine: the bass is deep and powerful, but not overpowering and mid-tones are there, but somewhat lacking compared to full-size systems. The distortion is relatively well controlled at high volumes. On the other hand, the poor workmanship shows in constant low-frequency hum from bad quality transformer, which is particularly irritating in quieter environments. The satellite cables are short and fixed length. They end with a single stereo jack plugged into sub-woofer - the connection that after a while gets loose and unreliable. Overall, not a bad product, but I would not recommend it.
