Iv'e bought lots of more expensive headphones over the years but none had the sound quality of these. The response is very even with an unrivelled bass end that gets right down to the subs which is unusual for heaphones at this price. And no they're not boomy. I bought a pair of philips headphones that were next up in line at £35 and they just wern't as good.
They are very comfortable. The pads are a soft fabric and your ears fit inside the cups so they're not pressed against your head.
If you want to preserve the listening quality of your music, buy these, theres nothing better at this price.

I received the Philips SHP2500 Corded Headphones on New Year's Eve 48 hours after ordering them and do exactly what I wanted them to do - allow private listening to a TV without disturbing others. Ideal for those with impaired hearing who might normally have to turn up the volume control or for flat dwellers, bedroom use, late night/early morning listening etc. It's useful that they come with a 3.5mm - 6.3mm adaptor since my modern Sharp LCD flat screen TV requires a 3.5mm jackplug. Unusually good frequency range for the price and the long 6 metre cord is a real bonus. Headband is adjustable and phones nicely padded. As a classical music lover for some 50 years with high grade Hi-Fi equipment, I don't put these phones in the same category as the superior grade noise cancelling Sennheisers and similar but they are pretty close plus there is an in-line volume control. I congratulate Philips for their practical design. Superb value for money.

I disagree about the problem with the 6m of cable. I am greatful that they give this, I cannot stand it when headphone cable isn't long enough. So these are excellent if sitting from a long distance away and I want to chill and listen to my music through Hi-Fi or watch a dvd etc. I now own three pairs of these for three rooms, their comfortable, sound good enough and well worth the price. Recommended to anyone who just wants a good strong pair of headphones for home use.

Very poor sound from the TV
As above, very poor sound transmission through the headphones. Need to have the sound turned up way beyond what is required with no headphones plugged in. Read more

Does exactly what it says on the tin
Does exactly what I bought them for. Brings TV to life without disturbing anyone else. The bass is a bit "boomy" but it adds to the action. Very comfortable in use.
