Clear sound is of critical importance when you're making a phone call. Thanks to Philips' striking XHD sound, voices remain absolutely pure and emotions are conveyed in the most natural way.
The results of a recent independent study of 294 consumers, performed by Synovate, has proven that consumers prefer the Philips cordless phone when it comes to sound quality. Philips telephones surpass the sound quality of both the handset and speaker when compared to (top model) cordless phones of leading brands.
*Research based on quantative interviews, carried out in Hamburg, Germany at I central location, during August 2009, with 294 regular phone users (nationall representattive of 18-55 year-old males and females). Blindfolded respondents tested handset sound quality on 3 phones before stating their preference.

OK but not brilliant,

This review is from: Philips SE5652B/05 DECT Twin Phone with Digital Answerphone (Electronics)
The phone works OK - the sound is very clear as Philips claim for their phone but the sound level could be better. You can alter the volume during a call but I cannot find a way of altering the factory preset permanently. If you are hard of hearing or use your phone in a noisy environment look for something else. The menu options seemed limited for storing tel numbers, e.g.too few characters allowed for a persons name but I liked the fact that numbers entered on one handset automatically transferred to the other handset.

This is the second set of Philips brand phone I have had in about 7 years or so. I was almost convinced to move over to Panasonic but found their handsets a little big and the buttons too small....plus I really liked the look of these phones.
The good points Sound quality is very good and loud, speaker phone is VERY VERY good, loud enough to use for conference calls. The menu system seems easy and intuative enough, could be better but nothing really to whine about. The answer machine is easy to use, setup and access remotely. The ringer can be set to VERY loud, which is good in a house of kids. The ringer types with the exception of a few are generally rubbish. Screen is clear, sharp and easy to read. Its a shame the "time" screen saver only comes on when the phone is set on its base station The negatives First - they look better in the picture than in real life, thats not to say they are ugly, but in the pictures on amazon they looked as though they had a little more metal on the fascia, but in real life they are more plastic. Not an issue in terms of using the phone, BUT they could look better. Also on a more trivial note, with a silver/black phone why would you have orange coloured illumination? Why not white? Second - Build quality is not great, they seem a little light, flimsy and plastic'y Finally - Battery life. This has probably got more to do with the batteries supplied as standard, but they barely last a day. we are not HEAVY users, more moderate users...but still the battery icon starts flashing after about 4 hours being off the base station, which is annoying. So I will be changing the batteries and trying again. I would give the handset a 7 out of 10... its good, but no design icon or award winning UI.

The sound quality on this produce is really clear. One thing I really like about it is that any updates you do on one handset are automatically transferred to the other handset so you don't have to clear redial and call lists on both handsets. Also contact list updates in second handset as well. Very happy with this product and haven't found anything to moan about.
