Folder view to organise and view media files as you do on your PC
Folder view is an optional directory view of the GoGear player that lets you view all the files on your player as if it were a computer. Once you select Folder view, opening any supported file (i.e. music, pictures or videos) is as easy as selecting the file and hitting Play.
Drag and drop your songs easily - no software needed
You can quickly and easily copy your music collection from your PC to your GoGear player. Simply connect your GoGear to your PC while in Windows® Explorer, select the songs or the folders that you want to copy to your player, then drag the selected files to the GoGear's music folder. It is that simple. No additional software installation is needed!
Storage capacity based on 4 minutes per song and 64 kbps WMA or 128 kbps MP3 encoding. Actual transfer speed may vary based on your operating system and software configuration.

I got one of these a few months back as I work occasional night shifts and can plug it into the office system when I've got the place to myself. If put on music shuffle I can load so much onto it (WMA's)to, theoretically,never hear the exact same sequence ever again,such is the vast storage capacity.The sound quality obviously depends upon the speakers used. I put mine (when at work)through the auxiliary connector of a 'pure' oasis DAB radio. The result is fantastic with lots of bass,indicating that the storage quality is very digitally accurate and the enhanced volume is really good. The only minor problem thus far encountered is occasionally with 'drag and drop' where the Philips seems to go into a freeze mode,or decides not to recognise what's going on. This may have something to do with my computer rather than the Philips MP3's programming. I've since discovered that it's best to actually go through 'send' instead and then drop the item into the music file as a second part of the process.
I can recommend the Philips go spark 8gb mp3 player as an alternative to the ipod monopoly as I regard it as being better.

Don't knock, just lock it in your pocket!,

In my search for the perfect music player for day-to-day use (especially walking/jogging), I'm now trying this little Spark. I'm already familiar with the detailed main menu, from using the GoGear Vibe, and like the easy navigation. It's easy to personalise the machine by copying and pasting pictures to act as screensavers and background, as well as call up album-art (not essential but fun and colourfull). Sound quality through my own phones is very good throughout the range.
There's one thing that is important to note here, concerning the sensitivity of the pressing controls: Once you've decided on how to play your tracks (I keep on Shuffle for all songs), use the Locking feature - push the On switch up to lock - before pocketing your player. Then you won't accidentally switch or pause tracks. This is a great feature, particularly if you're jogging or running for a bus! Some customers have noted the pointless belt-clip, clearly an afterthought on Philips' part. I won't use it simply because I fear that my player would fly off and break! Ignore the clip, just nestle your player in the cleverer little rubber nest supplied in the neat box, and pocket your player. Additionally, the USB cable with Philips machines is ridiculously short, barely the width of one's palm. It's a good idea to buy a longer or retractable Philips cable. These are very cheap and universal. So apart from the useless clip and the tiny USB, GoGear Spark is a great little player. I sincerely hope that it doesn't develop the GoGear Vibe's problem of freezing menu screens. I'll keep you all posted, if I'm unlucky. But 5-stars for an attractive and compact player.

Great Product, great Sound but the Shuffle is lousy.,

I have been looking for a MP3 player for a while now, and although I have been tempted bythe iPods, their prices have put me off. I finally, following much research, opted for the GoGear Spark 8Gb. I set it up, loaded about 300 songs onto it, and started listening. The device is very small and fits easily into your pocket. The sound this little device produces is fantastic, although I do find the headphones are not the most comfortable, but acceptable. I haven't tried out all the features yet - for instance, i have not created any playlists, but Iam sure these work fine.
However, BEWARE. There is a big negative. I have my player on Shuffle and use it for my short journey to and from work. When on Shuffle, the 2nd song that is played after I switch it on is ALWAYS the same song. The 4th song is always the same song. The 6th song is always the same song.....you get the idea. The 1st, 3rd, 5th, etc songs are always random. I contacted Philips and they just told me that is how Shuffle works !!! Because of this 'feature' I think I Will be returning this little device back as faulty!!
