After struggling with my old Philips HQ686 (v cheap 2 headed rotaryfor YEARS I was reluctant to try another. My old razor left my neck red and sore and it could never handle more than 1 days growth (and my hair isn't particularly thick). So for a long time i had to use a combination of wet and dry shaves. But now i went the whole hog and bought a not inexpensive razor, just to see if price does make a difference, and it does. The RQ1075 cut a weekend's worth of hair easily and in daily use it doesn't irritate my neck. It itches a bit immediately afterwards but that goes away quickly. Maybe i should use a shaving balm? The sideburn trimmer is a little small, but it cuts perfectly fine. Not tried the jet cleaning system yet.
I'm purely writing this review because of the negative reviews i read before buying, because i felt the negative points were baseless. One complained the sidebrurn trimmer couldn't cut anything - nonesense, it's just fine. One complained that it couldn't be plugged directly and used from mains power - er, just charge for an hour and you get weeks of shaving time. Also one person complained it was too plasticy - well all my razors have been plastic but that asside, it feels well built, not lose, flimsy or anything like cheap. Well made. And finally someone complained that because of the head shape (rotary) that he couldn't do his sideburns properly - fine, use the attached sideburn trimmer, FOOL. Maybe these were all even from the same person, but it goes to show that because there are a few negative reviews you should read them and make sure they're not just talking nonsense
Simply put, the best electric razor i've owned. Lets just hope it lasts another decade like my last one :)
