This is a super DVD player - I am no gadget expert but as a DVD player to entertain my two young kids in the car on holiday and on flights etc, it is fabulous. Having previously owned a different Philips the progress they have made with the battery life, picture and product design is evident. I found the DVD fitted on the armrest between the front seats so both kids could see it and was reasonably stable without using the rather cumbersome car mount. I am very happy with the picture and sound though I am no technical expert - and more importantly so are the kids. Great to have a 6-hr battery life, very handy on planes etc. Highly recommended!

I WANTED TO BUY A PORTABLE DVD PLAYER ESSENTIALLY TO TAKE ON THE PLANE WHEN I WAS TRAVELLING ALONE WITH MY TWO CHILDREN (AGE 8 AND 2). I DID A FAIR BIT OF RESEARCH BEFORE I EVENTUALLY BOUGHT THIS MODEL AND WAS LIMITED TO A CERTAIN BUDGET. I REALLY FEEL LIKE I MADE THE RIGHT DECISION AND AM REALLY PLEASED WITH THIS PHILIPS DVD PLAYER. THE BATTERY LIFE IS EXCELLENT SO THERE WAS NO WORRIES WITH IT SUDDENLY RUNNING OUT ON OUR 3 AND A HALF HOUR PLANE JOURNEY. IT SEEMS LIKE IT WAS WORTH PAYING THAT LITTLE EXTRA FOR THE 9 INCH SCREEN. LOVELY AND BRIGHT AND CLEAR SCREEN. EASY TO USE, MY 2 YEAR OLD HAS ALREADY WORKED IT OUT! IT WAS A LIFESAVER ON THE SCREEN, KEPT MY 2 CHILDREN (BOUGHT 2 PAIRS OF EARPHONES SEPARATELY) QUIET AND ENTERTAINED WHEN I THINK OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE HAD A PRETTY STRESSFUL JOURNEY. ALL IN ALL A GOOD BUY.

The Philips PD9060 is a solidly built portable DVD player with an excellent feature set, and has been a major step-up for me (actually, for my daughter) since I bought it to replace a 'cheap and cheerful' basic portbable player.
The 9-inch screen gives a very full picture with excellent quality - the picture looks better than the 800 x 480 pixel technology behind it would suggest. And with the swivel mount you will always be able to get the best view, even when mounted on a seat back. The seat mount itself is robust and effective and much better than fighting with straps and hooks. DivX playback is a highly valued feature, and CD and photo capability makes it an all rounder. As important as all these features, it feels tough, which is essential when the portable electronics and young children come together. The price tag will make you think long and hard before committing, but the feature set and solid build makes it a purchase you will not regret. Five stars.
