Product Description

Get smooth grooves with this Original radio mini. A modern interpretation of the iconic Philetta delivering DAB+ and FM radio, as well as music from smart devices wirelessly via Bluetooth. A built-in kitchen timer adds a touch of convenience.

Iconic Philetta design

Inspired by 1955 Original Radio - This original radio mini carries forward the iconic elements of the legendary 1955 Philips radio, also known as Philetta "BF 102 U". At the time this compact radio wowed audiences with its simple design, big sound and crystal clear reception. Philips radio heritage dates back to 1927. Over the decades, many models have become renowned radio icons and collectors' items.

20 DAB & 20 FM preset stations

With 20 DAB and 20 FM preset stations, your favourite channels are always only the push of a few buttons away. To program a preset, simply tune into the desired station, then press and hold the preset button. This quick procedure allows the radio frequency to be automatically stored for easy access whenever you like.

Dual alarm

The Philips audio system comes with two alarm times. Set one alarm time to wake you up and the other time to wake up your partner.

Built-in countdown timer for convenience in the kitchen

Built-in countdown timer for convenience in the kitchen This clock radio provides the best in convenience for everyday life. A built-in countdown timer helps keep an eye on what is being cooked, ensuring safety and well-prepared dishes. Now you can walk away from the stove or oven, and relax with a bit of TV, or do other chores around the home. Once the time is up, a buzzer will sound, reminding you that your meal is ready to be served.

This would have been the perfect bed-side alarm clock. The sound quality is great and the Bluetooth connect reliable but but the alarm clock function is really unreliable: Sometimes it worked but mostly it didn't. It seemed to default to Bluetooth mode and therefore not make any noise despite it being programmed to switch on DAB radio. This might be just a firmware fix - if that was sorted I'd give it 5 stars but at the moment it doesn't do what it say it would. Disappointing.

Bought this as a present for my wife who was looking for a new bedside alam clock. It arrived quickly and was it was very easy to set up and pair with her iPhone 5. Build and sound quality, both streaming and DAB / FM are excellent, but, and it's a big but, the led display is just too bright. Even on its most dim setting it illuminates the room and therefore makes it unsuitable as a bedside clock. Sadly, it has to go back. As a radio for kitchen or study its fine, but a no no for the bedroom.

FATAL FLAW: as noted by other reviewers, the alarm fails to work after using sleep mode - it seems to default/reset to Bluetooth input rather than whatever input you programmed (eg DAB or FM) to wake you up, and so you get no alarm. Presumably a software bug, but there seems to be no update on the Philips support site and one user here says Philips even told them it was meant to be like that. Very frustrating - it's a lovely looking thing, and sounds pretty good, but the controls/buttons/menus are generally horribly designed, and this alarm bug renders it totally useless for me.

We use this as a kitchen radio. A few reviewers mention the screen angle read problem and whilst I agree that it can be bad it is not an issue in the environment we are using it.
Sound quality is excellent. It looks good and different.
Ease of use could be improved upon. Access to preset stations requires too many click of fairly un-tactile buttons but it's something we can live with.

Just what I wanted: a simple bedside DAB radio with Bluetooth, plus the added benefit of a phone app that controls the device remotely. Sound is good, especially for the stations I listen to, mostly Radio 4 and XFM. Benefit of Bluetooth is that I can listen to podcasts and any music accessible through my phone.
BTW it's DAB+ so will support the new DAB standard when available in the UK.

I had the same issue as another reviewer - the alarm simply didn't go off in the morning. After some testing, I discovered that if you use the sleep timer to switch the radio off then the alarm won't work until you manually switch the radio back on. I contacted Philips about this and the replied "I understand the inconvenience you experience with the sleep timer. However, this is how this device is meant to be" and referred me to the manual.

Interesting to see another reviewer thought the display was too bright - I found if you view it from the same height (e.g. on a bedside table) then it's completely invisible.

These two major flows are a real shame as the sound quality is excellent for a clock radio.

I'm sending mine back. Come on Philips, surely a firmware update could fix the alarm/sleep timer issue?

Good sound easy to control using bluetooth, not a given 5 stars because of the price

Works very well. Bluetooth connects easily. Dab signal good, but scrolling between stations is not slick. The app (free download) works perfectly to control all features and gets around station searching issue. It does feel light and plastic but looks good and volume level is more than needed for our kitchen use. Time light is very dim.
