Book Description

4 Nov 2013 Road Atlas

Philip's Multiscale Europe 2014, in this spiral A4 format, gives more for leisure travellers than any comparable product. New larger-scale mapping has been included in this 2014 edition, which now has 175 pages of up-to-date maps from the Philip's digital database. In addition to the main maps at 1:750,000, the continental road network is shown at three supplementary scales from 1:250,000 to 1:3M, with ultra-clear detailed maps for urban areas.

Scenic routes are highlighted on the road maps, with theme parks and World Heritage sites clearly shown. The maps also highlight towns with low-emission zones and show motorway rest/parking areas.

Philip's Multiscale Europe 2014, in this spiral A4 format, includes:

Up-to-date driving regulations, including speed limits, for every country in Europe;

22 pages of route-planning maps which enable journeys of over 800 miles to be planned without turning a page;

175 pages of clear, detailed road maps, with scenic routes highlighted and toll, toll-free and pre-pay motorways all clearly marked;

31 large-scale urban-area maps for Europe's largest cities;

50 city-centre plans marking historic buildings and tourist attractions, as well as car parks, head post offices and other facilities.

I found the scales and town maps ( multiscale pages) better than all the other maps is looked at , the page detail and quality and colours are much better we are using to drive from England thought France and Switzerland and Germany on way home as a sat nav edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Usable scale for both planning and navigating 24 Jun 2014

The multiscale on this is really useful. You can use the small scale to get a picture of your whole journey and then the larger scale to plan it out and follow in detail. I went to a bookshop and looked at all of the road atlases and this was by far the most useful and best colour scheme.
The A3 version of this has the same scale, but bigger pages. Given the multiscale, I do not see the advantage of going for the A3 version. Especially, as it just makes it harder to turn pages in the confined space of a car.
