3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad... 19 Jan 2012
Format:Spiral-bound
The scales of the maps here are good. One needs a GPS or a more detailed map to find smaller villages, but otherwise it offers good value.

I have deducted 2 stars for the following reasons: the Baltic States, the Eastern parts of Poland, Slovakia and Hungary, along with most of Finland, Romania and Bulgaria are only available in the 1:3 200 000 scale (planning) maps - not much detail there.

It would also have benefited from scenic route markings in the planning maps for those that do not necessarily want to follow motorways or trunk roads. A green marker showing roads passing by or near places of natural beauty would have been helpful, especially at the planning stage. An idea perhaps for 2013.

However, all in all much better than the AA Road Atlas Europe 2012 which I returned to Amazon without hesitation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clear and big 16 Nov 2011
Format:Spiral-bound
Bought this map to travel across Europe on a motorbike. It is big and so shows fantastic detail of all of those scenic routes that we like to take. Feels sturdy enough to take a bit of a bashing from being stuck in a rucksack or in and out of the panniers. I have the USA version and thats still in top condition after 2 weeks and thousands of miles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for supplementing GPS 25 Nov 2011
Format:Spiral-bound|Verified Purchase
Bought this 2012 map for a fantastic price before we travel across Germany, France and Spain in early 2012. Whilst I haven't yet used it in anger on 'unknown' routes, I have had it out and tried it on the roads at home. Level of detail and ease of use were as I expected. I'm sure I'll find it to be perfect for my needs to support the in-car GPS and to spot alternative routes that can't easily be found without a road atlas. Well done Amazon.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointed 7 Nov 2011
Format:Spiral-bound|Verified Purchase
This is the third version of this road atlas I have bought. Whilst the mapping seems as clear as previous versions this version has, for me, one very major drawback, its physical size. Previous versions fitted nicely in the underseat storage in the car so were always available if and when wanted. This one is, I'm afraid destined for the back of a storecupboard as it is just too large to be kept elsewhere. This of course is a common problem with road atlases, but one I thought Philips had avoided. I guess it serves me right for assuming this version would be the same as previous ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Philip's Multiscale Europe 13 Feb 2012

Format:Spiral-bound
Probably the best European road atlas on the market at a reasonable price. The large scale and clear print make route planning and navigation easy. It also contains much valuable information regarding driving regulations in the countries covered. All in all a very useful tool.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good for the 3000 mile trip. 31 July 2012
Format:Spiral-bound|Verified Purchase
Bought this to do a 3000 mile trip around Western Europe. 98% of the time the map is spot on and very accurate, it struggles when getting more into urban areas where it pretty much leaves you to it. Perhaps I needed one more specific to the cities I was visiting.

I also liked that it had the rules for various countries listed in the front, which helped clear up any confusion when in the country itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the job 4 May 2012
By JH
Format:Spiral-bound|Verified Purchase
I had the 2007 edition of this atlas and upgraded to the 2012 edition. This is an A4 size, spiral bound(much better and easier to read than the standard paperback) atlas and was a perfect size and not to heavy or bulky for traveling on a motorcycle across Europe. All in all very pleased with the item.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Map 3 April 2012
Format:Spiral-bound|Verified Purchase
This map covers all of Europe in good detail and it has city maps for most major cities. An ideal companion for GPS to help route planning.
