The display will read out in text the name of the artist and track which is playing at any given moment, as well as the name of the station being listened to, the news, and more. CD-R and CD-RW compatible playback allows you to listen to recordable and re-recordable CDs on the micro hi-fi system.
Wake up to your favourite radio station or CD
A clock function displays the time, and has a programmable alarm - allowing you to wake up to your favourite radio station, or a pre-chosen CD. Meanwhile a sleep timer makes sure that the alarm turns off after a specified period - meaning you won't upset family, neighbours or housemates if you've accidentally left the alarm on when you're out.
Enhance your living space
The MC146 Micro System with two speakers will enhance your living space while enriching your music listening experience. Just press Play to enjoy room-filling, dynamic and bass-boosted sounds. With a total of 4 watts total power output (RMS), this is also a relatively low-energy model. A phono input means you can listen to TV, DVDs, cassette tapes, LPs and other sound media through the two base-boost speakers, enhancing how you listen to all your media.
Play CD, CD-R and CD-RW discs
Philips is known for making products which are compatible with many discs available in the market. This audio system lets you enjoy music from CD, CD-R and CD-RW. A single CD can store up to 10 hours of music. CD-RW (CD-Rewritable Compatible) means that your audio system can play both CD-Recordable (CD-R) and CD-Rewritable (CD-RW) discs. CD-R discs are recordable once and can be played on any audio CD player while CD-RW discs can be recorded and rewritten multiple times and can only be played back on compatible audio CD players.

Dynamic Bass Boost maximises your music enjoyment by emphasising the bass content of the music throughout the range of volume settings - from low to high – at the touch of a button! Bottom-end bass frequencies usually get lost when the volume is set at a low level. To counteract this, Dynamic Bass Boost can be switched on to boost bass levels, so you can enjoy consistent sound even when you turn down the volume.
DAB and FM compatible
DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) digital radio is a new way of broadcasting radio, in addition to FM analogue transmission, via a network of terrestrial transmitters. It provides listeners with more choices and information delivered in clear, crackle-free sound quality. The technology allows the receiver to lock on to the strongest signal it can find. With DAB digital stations there are no frequencies to remember, and sets are tuned by station name, so there is no retuning on the move.

Little beauty,

I bought this for me to use in the kitchen, singing and dancing when I'm working! It's very good, I like to listen to plays on the radio too and the sound is good for both music and speech. It is compact and unobtrusive, easy to use and works very well.

The PHILIPS MCB 146/05 MICRO HiFi SYSTEM has 2 well balanced stereo speakers that give excellent stereo separation. Apart from placing a CD into the CD player every thing else is delightfully operated from the remote control. From selecting CD Player, DAB Radio, or FM radio. Radio channel, sound volume, sleep timer or even set the clock.
I Live in a bad area for DAB radio but the PHILIPS MICRO pulls in 10 DAB radio stations with perfect reception. FM reception is also good. Very good value for the price.

I love Amazon! I had been looking for a small well priced HiFi for my bedroom. I also wanted to plug in my MP3 player. Looked high and low, and could not find what I wanted at the price. Went on Amazon, looked at users review, and ordered it straight away.
It was delivered in 2 days, plugged in and ready to us in about 10mins. It is a nice size,and looks good. It has a really good sound for what a micro HiFi. The DAB radio is great, strong signal strength. I was surprised at well priced it is, but I suppose it is being made defunct by ipods. The only minus is the short speaker wires, makes it a bit tricky to space the speakers apart. For those of us that just want to listen to radio and CDs it is ideal.
