If you are buying a set of phones I would recommend this model. I purchased this set to replace an old but expensive set so I was after features, build quality and clarity.
Features. - The best is one I did not realise until later. It was said these phones take a second to access stored info (phone shows an egg timer). I realised this is because all the info is stored on the base unit and you are using the phone to access the relevant info. Why have Phillips done this. Well if numbers and caller ID is stored on the phone, and you have multiple phones, you have to add the same numbers and caller IDs to all the phones. With this system you add info using one handset. Then, which ever handset you pick up all the info is the same! Perfect. Once you realise this, it's not a slow system. The different ring tones for different callers is also useful. So if flight of the bumble bee is playing I know it's my parents before I rush to the phone.
Build quality - Yes build quality is lacking, however I have not been able to find a quality handset and I have looked at many. If you take the battery out of any phone they all seem tacky and plastic. I nearly purchase the Bang and Olusfen Beocom 2 just for the build quality but >350 for a single phone was too much. Build quality dropped from my list of wants. To be honest, this phone is quite good and stylish.
Clarity - just as good as any other high end phone or maybe better. Speaker phone is exceptionally clear, for both you and the caller!
