Bring the power of the cinema into your home! Powerful speakers with bass pipes and high definition HDMI 1080p upscaling pump up your home entertainment experience.
A built-in Dolby Digital decoder eliminates the need for an external decoder by processing all six channels of audio information to provide a surround sound experience and an astoundingly natural sense of ambience and dynamic realism. Dolby Pro Logic II provides five channels of surround processing from any stereo source.
HDMI 1080p upscaling delivers images that are crystal clear. Movies in standard definition can now be enjoyed in true high definition resolution - ensuring more details and more true-to-life pictures. Progressive Scan (represented by "p" in "1080p") eliminates the line structure prevalent on TV screens, again ensuring relentlessly sharp images. To top it off, HDMI makes a direct digital connection that can carry uncompressed digital HD video as well as digital multi-channel audio, without conversions to analogue - delivering perfect picture and sound quality, completely free from noise.
Play virtually any disc and any media devices you want - whether they are DVDs, VCDs, CDs or USB devices. Experience the unbeatable convenience of great playability, and the luxury of sharing media files on your TV or home theatre system.

Good purchase - But lacks control over sound,

This review is from: Philips HTS3520/05 5.1 ch Home Cinema System (HDMI,1080p,Upscaling and Dolby Digital,600W) (Electronics)
Over all a good home cinema. Good design, with this price you get plenty of features. very good bass (bass often depends on the position of sub-woofer), but poor treble sound. I really wish if this had a graphic equalizer/user-eq, because then I could have controlled the (treble) sound, yes there are some preset equalizer settings (like Rock/Classis/Night etc.) but they give very little control over sound. BTW system does NOT have bass/treble controller, nor karaoke. Only if it had (at least 5-band) graphic equalizer I would have not returned it. I have absolutely no complains about the video/DVD features. FM works great too.HTH Thanks

There is no optical audio input on this item. This is a shame, as the unit itself is very nice, the upscaling provides a great HD picture and there's plenty connectivity in other regards. But without the digital sound, this isn't up to date enough for me...
