this was my first ever ice cream machine purchase, and it's so fun and easy to use, and so far, four or five ice cream batches later it's been making consistent and lovely ice creams. Have used it for smooth ice creams, and chunkier recipes too, and everything was fine. Quite fool proof.. :)

Bought this ice cream maker from Amazon following a recommendation in the Sunday Times. Have had nothing but brilliant ice cream from it from the first batch. Suggest you buy it with the Ben and Jerry book - you will never buy ice cream from the supermarket again!!

Brought this item after reading the reviews here. I must admit the main reason I bought it was due to issues of space in the freezer. This is the objects main plus point and if you don't have much space then it is still definately the one for you.
However, I do have reservations about the purchase. The paddle is made out of very light plastic which although flimsy is good because the motor driving it does not seem to be very powerful at all. As flagged up by other reviewers the paddle action can easily halt in mid process so the only option is the soft scoop variety of ice cream. I have followed the instructions religiously due to some of the comments already made but still found that the paddle can be easily caught by an errant tiny piece of ice on the side. This also brings up another issue. If you are slightly adventourous and want to experiment by deviating from the recipe book provided you begin to realise that there is a good reason for sticking to the recipe's provided. None of the recipe's seem to have the addition of any medium items to the mix - i.e. halved strawberries, small blocks of chocolate (green & blacks small squares quartered). This is because the motor is not really powerful enough to turn when adding such items into the mixture so it soon stops turning the paddle after adding these items. Not great if you want decent sized chunks in your ice cream I can tell you!

In summary:
Pro's great for price, space saving in the freezer, soft scoop ice cream fast
Con's flimsy motor, hard ice cream with textured chunks

This is a very good machine which makes wonderful ice cream. My husband loves it as he loves "real McCoy" ice cream. I have also used it to make dairy free ice cream and it does well here too. I have heard it said that you cannot buy dairy free ice cream but I purchased a book from Amazon with dairy free recipes and the ones I have tried are super. I would recommend this machine to all ice cream lovers It is easy to use and easy to clean.

I am sitting here with a bowl of frozen cherry yoghurt which took 15 minutes to make. It is delicious!

The machine works brilliantly and the icecream is gorgeous. I put off having one of these as I only knew about the ones where you have to freeze the entire bowl, and I don't have room in the freezer. But the disc of this one isn't too bulky, and the results are well worth it.

Bought this for a friend as a birthday gift and it is so brilliant that I have borrowed it many times!
Very simple to use and easy to clean.
You have to mix up all the ingredients yourself first before adding to the ice cream maker. The machine will then churn all the ingredients together and start the freezing process. I always leave the ice-cream for the full 40 mins. Every batch has been perfect!
The instruction booklet however, I think was for another device as it mentions two different ice cream settings which this model doesn't have.
I would def recommend this product. You will not regret it.

I chose this particular ice cream maker after reading the reviews off other purchasers on Amazon. I am very pleased with the item - have made ice cream three times since - very scrumptious. I am afraid I shall be putting weight on at this rate. Would recommend to anyone - especially the ease of putting disc in freezer instead of a bowl. Very easy to use.

I chose this model because you only have to freeze the disc that goes in the bottom of the machine. This takes up less room in the freezer than a bowl.

I've had this for a week now and am truly impressed. I've followed some recipes and also created recipes based on left-overs. Everything has turned out really well. I've not served ice-cream straight away, as I prefer it to be more solid. An additional hour or so in the freezer results in a beautifully creamy texture.

The only advice is that some of the recipes in the paperwork provided have errors. Best to check on the web, or buy a book of recipes.

The instruction book also mentions two settings - I've not found them!

An update.....
6 months on and I am still using this and enjoying the results....I'd recommend learning the basic cooked custard recipe as that is the most flexible in adding some amazing flavours (lavendar, cinnamon, liquorice). Also, but very good quality flavoured chocolate and you can have amazing chocolate ice-cream. All very simple with this machine.
