However, I do have reservations about the purchase. The paddle is made out of very light plastic which although flimsy is good because the motor driving it does not seem to be very powerful at all. As flagged up by other reviewers the paddle action can easily halt in mid process so the only option is the soft scoop variety of ice cream. I have followed the instructions religiously due to some of the comments already made but still found that the paddle can be easily caught by an errant tiny piece of ice on the side. This also brings up another issue. If you are slightly adventourous and want to experiment by deviating from the recipe book provided you begin to realise that there is a good reason for sticking to the recipe's provided. None of the recipe's seem to have the addition of any medium items to the mix - i.e. halved strawberries, small blocks of chocolate (green & blacks small squares quartered). This is because the motor is not really powerful enough to turn when adding such items into the mixture so it soon stops turning the paddle after adding these items. Not great if you want decent sized chunks in your ice cream I can tell you!
Pro's great for price, space saving in the freezer, soft scoop ice cream fast
Con's flimsy motor, hard ice cream with textured chunks
The machine works brilliantly and the icecream is gorgeous. I put off having one of these as I only knew about the ones where you have to freeze the entire bowl, and I don't have room in the freezer. But the disc of this one isn't too bulky, and the results are well worth it.
Very simple to use and easy to clean.
You have to mix up all the ingredients yourself first before adding to the ice cream maker. The machine will then churn all the ingredients together and start the freezing process. I always leave the ice-cream for the full 40 mins. Every batch has been perfect!
The instruction booklet however, I think was for another device as it mentions two different ice cream settings which this model doesn't have.
I would def recommend this product. You will not regret it.
I've had this for a week now and am truly impressed. I've followed some recipes and also created recipes based on left-overs. Everything has turned out really well. I've not served ice-cream straight away, as I prefer it to be more solid. An additional hour or so in the freezer results in a beautifully creamy texture.
The only advice is that some of the recipes in the paperwork provided have errors. Best to check on the web, or buy a book of recipes.
The instruction book also mentions two settings - I've not found them!
6 months on and I am still using this and enjoying the results....I'd recommend learning the basic cooked custard recipe as that is the most flexible in adding some amazing flavours (lavendar, cinnamon, liquorice). Also, but very good quality flavoured chocolate and you can have amazing chocolate ice-cream. All very simple with this machine.

Didn't wrk for me at all. Ended up sending it back because it wouldn't make ice cream, it would just turn the milk into some runny substance. Pants.Published on 21 Dec. 2012 by Zander
