You can use the Philips HR2084/90 blender to make shakes, drinks and soups, to crush ice cubes, to prepare baby food, etc. Easy to clean As the jar, fruit filter, blade and lid are detachable and dishwasher safe, you can just put them in the dishwasher to clean them. The easiest way to clean the jar is to use the 'quick clean' function. Put a maximum of 500 ml of water and some washing-up liquid in the jar and press the pulse button several times, then give the jar a quick rinse. Done! Serrated blades You will not get conventional blades with the Philips HR2084 blender. Instead it comes with an innovative, serrated, five-star blade. The five-star serrated blade is designed to make your toughest blending job easy. The break-resistant jar means you can be more confident and comfortable working with your blender. During processing, you can remove the small lid to add liquid and solid ingredients. Switch the blender off before adding solid ingredients. Juice filter You can use the fruit filter to make soy milk and a wide variety of drinks (with or without alcohol). Put the fruit/beans in the filter, add some liquid and all pips and skins will be filtered out of your drinks. Make sure the lid is on the jar before pouring out the drinks. Multiple speed settings Choose the exact speed you need with multiple speed settings, giving you maximum flexibility. Well I'm over 50, have owned a few blenders, and this is by far the best I'ved owned for these reasons:
Every part is dishwasher safe (apart from motor of course) which makes life so much easier.
You can increase the speed slowly; really handy for hot soups that can be a little lively. Or you can just press the smoothy option that blitzes at high speed.
There is a button option to "pulse" which can be useful for persuading obstinate chunks of fruit to "get with the programme", plus an "ice crushing " button - haven't needed to use this yet.
It is very sturdy, the jug is made of glass and whilst this can be heavy it is so much more durable than plastic jugs than can neither endure long term blitzes or the dishwasher. It seems to be constructed and comes apart for washing very easily. Whilst I don't know how durable all of it is yet, I have to say it looks very promising.

I looked at lots of different models before buying this one. I wanted a simple to use blender with good-sized, robust jug and reasonable motor. This product delivers on all counts. It will crush ice, make smoothies as well as usual blender functions. I'm really happy with it.

Very happy with this blender. Solid contruction and jug attaches firmly and easily to the base. I do not feel it blends any better than my last philips blender(450Watts) however i am still happy with the result and product. The main benefit of this blender over the last one i had with a plastic jug is the fact that it is much easiar to keep clean.
