5.0 out of 5 stars Best friend 16 July 2009
A friend recommended a juicer as a way of eating fruit and veg as I said I didn't often cook for myself and concerned about getting my daily's! Hadn't got a clue as to which one suited me, but after browsing selected the Philips HR1854 as a reputable make and average price range. Well now I'm addicted to it, spend a fortune on fruit and veg and have great fun experimenting with mixes. But the important thing is I feel more healthy and energetic and have even lost 3lbs without even trying. This model is easy to use, no fiddly bits to clean and quiet and functional. I would, and do, recommend it for a first class juice service.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good One 26 April 2010

I initially had the bigger and more expensive Philips juicer; this is much, much better; extremely good value for money; it works well and is not that difficult to clean, much easier than the other one. I reommend this juicer.

3.0 out of 5 stars Average Juicer 22 Jun 2010
By me
I bought this for my girlfriend. I have Philips HR1861 which is more powerful and is made of parts with less sharp corners which are more difficult to clean. Juice jar is quite small: 500ml. My HR1861 leaves dryer pulp so it is more money saving option in long term. This juicer will suit someone who makes juice irregularly. If you want to make juice quite often it pays of to invest more in Philips 1860s series or other brands like Breville

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent juicer 24 July 2009
We've been using this juicer now for a few weeks and it's excellent. Really easy to use and very effective. The only gripe is that it could be easier to clean. It has lots of little nooks in the lid where "stuff" can get caught. It's not a major problem just annoying.

4.0 out of 5 stars Broken lid feeder tube 26 Jan 2012

I was very pleased with this product until after five days the bottom of the lid feeder broke and now has a triangular hole. I don't need the whole machine replacing, just the lid with feeder tube.Philips HR1854 Juicer

4.0 out of 5 stars to many groves 26 Feb 2010
By Daisy M

This cheap and cheerfull juicer is easy to use and easy to attach the lid to get going. Nice looking on work top, good juicing book included, some issues with the pulp extremely messy not really dry enough and the unit takes ages to clean to many groves around the top also whole fruit will not juice completely even though the tube is big to accomodate large pieces

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant machine! 30 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase
Having never owned a juicer before, I wasn't sure what to look for and didn't have many points of reference.
My parents own a £500 juicer and I can't say it provides money's worth of quality over the PHILIPS one.

I got it a week ago and have been making juice at least twice a day ever since! (I have now started making a bottle's worth at a time, to save me having to wash up after each use).
Machine is very easy to keep clean, its neat design means assembly and disassembly is quick and easy and washing up doesn't take long at all, as you're dealing with fruit and veg.

I find it quite effective in extracting juice and what is left in the waste container is fairly dry and only slight spatter of juice doesnt make it to the jug.

The juice jug that comes with the juicer is a little small, but gets rid of the foam/fruit residue effectively (I don't mind it, but my boyfriend is very particular about juice clarity)

Finally, my machine came (unexpectedly) with a free book "7lbs in 7 Days Super Juice Diet" by the "Juice Master" - Jason Vale.
The book's RRP is £8 and although I don't see me following the diet, some juice recipes in the book could come in handy once I exhaust my carrot/apple creativity :)

5.0 out of 5 stars it does what it says on the box 9 Nov 2010
PHILIPS HR1858 650W 2L PULP CONTAINER JUICER WHITE
it is a fantastic prodduct and it does what it says it will do, i never thought fruit and veg tasted so good althought we are spending a little more now on fruit and veg we are getting our five a day a lot easier than before .

just by putting a couple of carrots with any fruit juice it gives the result a little body and colour, carry on juiceing.

This machine is good for the price, however the residue is still very wet and a more expensive machine might extract more juice from the fruit. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Philips HR1854 Juicer
After waiting for 2 weeks to find one I found the Juicer very messy, I have only used it once as it did not seem worth the time and effort to use it again. Very expensive.
