Just bought this to make smoothies and it works great and the price is good.

Id recommend this over that dedicated smoothie maker thing as a friend has one of them and the spout just blocks up. Not much point paying the extra for a shiny exterior and a poor design.

This does the job (as any standard blender would) and also has the mill attatchment. Ive not used it for coffee beans but i have for smaller items like ginger or an onion. Just the right size and easier to clean.

The easy clean thing is just a gimmick though - you can do the same with any blender with a pulse button.

I am very impressed with this blender. It has many well thought-outfeatures, like the twist clip to secure the lid, and is easy to use. Itworks extremely well - blends soups to a smooth puree and grinds seeds toa fine powder in double-quick time. Not unduly noisy - all round awonderful addition to by kitchen armoury. Excellent design for a bargainprice.
I would have given it 5 stars, except for two points. Firstly, I havedoubts about the durability of the jug and other parts - I would happilyhave paid another £15 or so to have it made from more robust materials.Secondly, I find it difficult to remove the mill from the motor base oncethe contents have been ground - causing me to accidentally open it whilestill inverted (the mill, not me!)and spill the contents.

I would like to confirm some of the other reviewers comments:

* the motor burns out extremely quickly (it took 6 months for this, the replacement I was sent lasted only two months)

* the fruit filter also holds back the parts of the fruit you actually DO want

*it does not blend solid ingredients (except for what is immediately around the blades)

*blending quality is poor- expect lumpy chunks of fruit in smoothies even after a decent length of time blending

I'm going back to my braun multi hand held for now until I can find a blender with a decent motor.

On the jug there is a little prong which goes into a slot on the top of the base when putting the jug onto the base ready for use, thereby negating the safety cut-out. Read more
